There is no doubt that the ability to leverage innovative and useful tools such as Zoom, smart phones and other video platforms has ensured that during the pandemic, important meetings, relationships and support networks could be maintained. However, in our zeal to embrace technology and its ability to keep us connected we are reminded that, in some cases, this simply cannot replace, nor should it, the experience of being able to connect face-to-face. 

After graduating as a mature student this past year Sheena* began to give serious thought to her financial and professional future. Sheena reached out to SEED Winnipeg after discovering SEED had been helping her sister file taxes for several years

The Financial Empowerment and Problem Solving (FEPS) program provides free, confidential, one-on-one support to individuals living on low incomes to help them build their financial health.

On May 26th, 2018 Prosper Canada, TD Bank Group and Toronto Employment and Social Services (TESS) co-hosted a networking event  for newcomers seeking jobs in the financial sector. 

In a previous blog post I reflected on some of the financial difficulties faced by young people from care. I also talked about the importance of financially empowering youth from care, given that we’re required to be completely financially independent after 18 years of age.
