Legislative Measures to Strengthen Canada’s Complaint-Handling System for Bank Customers

On May 3, 2023, a letter was sent out to the Honourable Chrystia Freeland on behalf of Prosper Canada, FAIR Canada and other key partners, expressing support for the amendments in the Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1, which will establish a single external complaints body (ECB) for banking complaints while continuing to urge the government to designate Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments (OBSI) as the single ECB.

OBSI is a non-profit, independent organization that has been providing Canadians with financial dispute-resolution services for over 25 years. Choosing OBSI means the public will receive the best care that is on par with international standards.
